Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and driven Project Engineer to join our Long Beach, CA team. This role supports marine and heavy civil construction projects , focusing on field coordination, production tracking, and safety compliance to ensure all work is performed efficiently and in alignment with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety & Quality Compliance: Enforce MSHA, OSHA, Corps of Engineers, and company safety standards. Lead safety meetings and maintain required compliance documentation.
- Field Coordination: Support daily work planning and execution. Coordinate materials, labor, and equipment needs; communicate with project and quarry operations; adjust work plans for field conditions.
- Production Tracking: Maintain daily logs of crew activity, production quantities, and equipment use. Track material quantities and prepare documentation for progress payments.
- Surveying & Mapping: Conduct progress surveys, assemble cross-sections, and create bathymetric maps for project documentation.
- Scheduling & Reporting: Assist in preparing schedules, identifying potential delays, and supporting project managers in maintaining timelines.
- Documentation: Prepare project records, including as-builts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and progress photos.
- Travel: Some assignments may require out-of-town travel and weekend work; accommodations provided.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering , Ocean Engineering , Construction Management , or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in marine or heavy civil construction projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD , Bluebeam , and Microsoft Office .
- Experience with construction document control , including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contracts.
- Ability to interpret and apply MSHA, OSHA, and Corps of Engineers safety policies .
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) .
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects.
- Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 safety and hazard control requirements.
- Completion of EM 385-1-1 training for SSHO or QC Manager roles.
- Experience with surveying (hydrographic/topographic) and Hypack software.
- Experience using HeavyBid for estimating and cost analysis.
