A postdoctoral research fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Abhishek Chandra. Dr. Chandra is an Associate Professor of Physiology in the department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Mayo Clinic. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join a NIH funded research project to study bone tissue vascularization, repair and regeneration and the role of p21 based cellular senescence regulating these processes. The research program integrates bone tissue regeneration, vascular biology, and skeletal biology with an emphasis on molecular and cellular control of bone specialized blood vessel formation during repair and regeneration. The successful candidate will work with a team of scientists to study cellular heterogeneity using CyTOF during clinical radiotherapy and age- related bone deterioration, and interaction with mesenchymal and hematopoietic cells utilizing genetic, histologic, imaging

and flow cytometric approaches. The candidate will have access to cutting-edge imaging, genetic and bioinformatics cores/facilities to understand mechanisms of bone repair and regeneration. The project is in collaboration with the Department of Radiation Oncology, and project outcomes have potential clinical implications which can be translated in a short span of time. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic. Candidates will have the following:

* Strong interest in research on musculoskeletal system or tissue regeneration

* Extensive experience in standard cellular and molecular biology techniques including cell culture, DNA and RNA isolation, RT-PCR, molecular cloning, Western Blot, ELISA, flow cytometry etc.

* Potential experience or interest in bone biology, molecular biology, vascular biology, mouse husbandry and genotyping, mouse work including survival surgeries, histology/immunohistochemistry and confocal imaging.

* A publication track record with written and verbal communication skills.

* Prepared to collaborate on multidisciplinary research projects.

* The ability to supervise research trainees and/or technicians

* The ability to communicate effectively with faculty, postdoc and students of all levels.
