Job Description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

St. Cecilia School, a vibrant Catholic community in St. Louis dedicated to academic excellence and faith formation, seeks a Leadership Assistant: Family Engagement Coordinator. This position supports the principal in advancing the mission of Catholic education while leading the design and implementation of a comprehensive Family Engagement Program.

The Leadership Assistant serves as both an instructional and community leader, strengthening the essential partnership between families and the school. Recognizing the post-COVID decline in parent involvement and the strong link between family engagement, student attendance, and achievement, this role focuses on re-engaging families as active participants in their children’s academic, social-emotional, and spiritual development.

This is a fully employed school community position, pairing administrative support with leadership in family engagement. The Coordinator provides workshops and programming for parents in areas such as health, financial literacy, technology, and family faith formation—empowering families to help their children thrive.

Job Responsibilities

1. Mission and Catholic Identity

  • Support the Principal in upholding and advancing the Catholic identity and mission of St. Cecilia School.
  • Model Gospel values in family engagement efforts, ensuring initiatives strengthen both faith and community.

  • Collaborate with parish and community partners to provide family formation opportunities.

2. Family and Community Engagement

  • Develop, lead, and evaluate a Family Engagement Program addressing post-COVID challenges of reduced parent involvement.

  • Design workshops and supports for families in:

    • Academic Growth (literacy, learning strategies, understanding NWEA growth scores)

    • Social-Emotional Development (mental health, parenting strategies)

    • Family Health & Wellness

    • Financial Literacy

    • Technology Access & Skills

    • Catholic Faith Formation

  • Track family participation, attendance patterns, and student outcomes, using data to guide programming.

  • Strengthen school-home communication systems to ensure families are welcomed, informed, and involved.

3. Governance and Leadership

  • Partner with the Principal and instructional coaches to align family engagement with academic and instructional goals.

  • Serve as a visible leader, present at school events, family workshops, and community partnerships.

  • Represent the Principal in family-centered meetings, parish collaborations, and community initiatives.

4. Academic Excellence

  • Support teachers by equipping them with strategies to foster parent engagement in learning.

  • Collaborate with staff to address attendance concerns through family outreach and partnerships.

  • Coordinate with school leadership to provide interventions for students whose learning is impacted by poor attendance or lack of family engagement.

5. Operational Vitality

  • Provide administrative support in communication, scheduling, and coordination of school events.

  • Assist in enrollment and retention efforts by building strong, trust-filled relationships with families.

  • Expand family resources through partnerships with parish ministries and social service agencies.

Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Job Requirements

  • A practicing Catholic committed to the mission of Catholic education.

  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, Family Engagement, or related field (or actively pursuing).

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in teaching, leadership, or family/community engagement, preferably in Catholic education.

  • Strong understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and family-school partnership practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and lead parent/family workshops.

  • Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with cultural sensitivity.

Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English) strongly preferred to support the school’s bilingual and multicultural community.
