**About the Role**
Country Herald is seeking passionate, early-career writers to join our growing contributor network. This is a remote, part-time opportunity ideal for recent grads, journalism students, or aspiring reporters who are eager to build a regional voice and grow with a fast-paced digital newsroom.
We’re currently expanding our coverage in **Eastern Ohio** and the **Carolinas** — especially around **Cleveland**, **Pittsburgh**, and **Charlotte** — with a focus on original, community-centered stories that resonate both locally and nationally.
**What You’ll Do**
* Write and publish original local stories
* Follow established SOPs and editorial formats
* Contribute to coverage in underserved markets with high local interest
* Monitor community developments (events, government updates, safety alerts, etc.)
* Collaborate via Slack with fellow contributors for pitch sharing and story support
* Grow your byline with consistent publishing and feedback from editorial leadership
* Work closely with the Editorial Operations Manager to achieve departmental goals
* Write content for Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, covering both sides of state lines
