Overview:
The Controller is a key financial leader responsible for managing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and cost accounting activities for a fast-paced manufacturing organization. This role partners closely with operations, supply chain, and executive leadership to ensure accurate financial data, effective planning, and continuous improvement in processes and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, A/P, A/R, payroll, and fixed assets.
Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP.
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including consolidations and variance analysis.
Develop and maintain cost accounting systems to track production costs, inventory valuation, and standard costing.
Partner with operations to analyze manufacturing variances, labor utilization, and material efficiency.
Manage cash flow forecasting, capital expenditure tracking, and working capital analysis.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities in coordination with the CFO.
Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
Coordinate audits, tax filings, and compliance with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
Supervise, mentor, and develop a small accounting team to promote accuracy, accountability, and growth.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory management principles.
Proficiency with ERP systems
Advanced Excel skills and data analysis capability.
Demonstrated ability to translate financial data into operational insights.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
