Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated Commercial or Institutional Cleaner to join our team. As a Commercial or Institutional Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in commercial or institutional buildings. Your primary duties will include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting various areas within the facility.

Daily Operations & Safety 👷

• Arrive Fit for Duty: Be ready to work each day, both physically and mentally.
• Morning Huddle: Participate in the daily tailgate or toolbox talk to discuss the day's tasks, potential hazards, and safety topics with the crew.
• Job Hazard Analysis (JHA): Work with the team to complete a JHA, identifying and assessing risks before starting a task.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Consistently wear required safety gear like hard hats, vests, gloves, and eye protection.
• Site Management: Set up safety barricades and wet floor signs as needed, and manage cords and hoses to prevent tripping hazards.
• Incident Reporting: Immediately report any hazards or incidents to a supervisor.
• Chemical Safety: Adhere to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals, ensuring proper handling, dilution, and use.
• Rough Cleaning: Bag and stage large debris; maintain clear entry and exit paths ( egress ); sweep and use a HEPA vacuum to remove heavy dust.
• Detailed Cleaning: Focus on edges and corners, perform cautious high dusting of ceilings, lights, ledges, and fixtures.

Finish Cleaning:

• Clean and detail all surfaces, including walls, casework, doors, and frames.
• Remove all adhesive, stickers, and labels from new installations.
• Polish hardware and stainless steel to a shine.
• Clean glass and windows per specifications, using approved tools.
• Clean floors by dust mopping, edge detailing, and using an auto scrubber or damp mop, ensuring they are prepped for final finishes.

Touch-Up Cleaning: Revisit areas to address newly created dust or marks, perform spot vacuuming/mopping, and repolish surfaces as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Previous experience in construction or commercial cleaning is preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment is a plus.
