Summary/Objective:
The CDL Van and Flatbed Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company-owned dry vans and flatbeds to transport scrap materials from local customers, scrap yards, and designated drop-off points. This position requires daily interaction with customers, strict adherence to safety protocols, and supports the overall effectiveness of scrap metal collection and processing operations.

 
Essential Functions:

• Operate company-owned dry van and flatbed trucks for the pick-up and delivery of scrap materials.
• Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections; promptly report any mechanical or safety issues.
• Deliver excellent customer service during all pick-up and drop-off operations; represent the company professionally.
• Maintain all required certifications per DOT, OSHA, and company safety programs.
• Communicate with dispatch and yard personnel regarding schedules, delays, or issues.
• Stage trailers at loading docks as directed by scale operators.
• Assist with daily inventory of trailers, noting whether trailers are loaded or empty.
• Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation laws and regulations.
• Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned by management.

Required Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of commercial driving experience with dry vans or flatbeds.
• Valid and active Class A CDL license.
• Experience working in or around recycling, scrap, or industrial environments is a plus.
